All AURN-ONA represented nurses are being asked to attend in person member meetings. We’re reaching a crossroads with bargaining and what happens next is uncertain. Progress at the bargaining table relies heavily on OHSU executives recognizing the value of nurses and meeting our interests in the contract. This is the time to come together and realize our collective vision of not only being "Oregon's #1 hospital," but a place where we retain, recruit, respect, and recognize nurses and the needs of nurses in the workplace.
ALL MEMBER MEETINGS: From August 2-5, please find a day and time to attend that works best for your schedule

July 19 Mediation Session Summary
Our AURN bargaining team met for our 22nd session with management to attempt to reach a fair agreement on our new union contract. A government mediator was present as we continued to exchange proposals on a large number of articles and MOUs. We are excited to report that we reached a tentative agreement on a brand new article in our contract regarding remote work (see summary below!). This is a big step forward given the dramatic increase in nurses doing remote work due to OHSU’s large growth and our contract lacking provisions for this type of work. This tentative agreement will still be subject to ratification of the full agreement when negotiations conclude.
Management continues to not offer significant movement on our top bargaining priorities, despite our contract expiring. We have made it clear to management that our members do not want to work into fall and winter with an expired contract. While nurses around Oregon received large cost of living increases on July 1st, we did not. That is unacceptable. However, management has agreed to bring a new economic package next Wednesday, July 26. Our team knows that nurses all across our institution stand resolved to work together to create real change at OHSU.
Article 30 - Remote Work
Highlights of the tentative agreement on a brand new article in our union contract:• Creates clear definitions of regular remote work (fully remote, hybrid remote), occasional remote work, and remote work sites.
• Guarantees access to flexible workspace at OHSU for all remote workers in Oregon, and some out-of-state workers.
• Provides a transparent process for requesting remote work arrangements.
• Remote workers cannot be recalled to work in person without a reasonable explanation that requires their physical presence at an OHSU Work Site and 30 days notice.
• Guarantee that standard technology and equipment will be provided necessary to perform your work.
• If a remote worker must use fax or mail, postage and fax costs will be covered by OHSU.
• Protections for remote workers who experience internet outages and technical issues.
• Guaranteed there will be no restrictions placed on remote workers regarding having children or dependents at home during work hours. Where other employees have discretion in their workflow and work hours, remote employees with children at home shall be afforded the same discretion.
• Remote workers must be allowed to remotely join work meetings and trainings whenever a reasonable remote option is possible.
