Organizing Your Workplace

What is Organizing, and why do it? How to Organize

As the President of the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) Board of Directors and an RN at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston, OR, I have been an active ONA member since 2001. Welcome to our union!

At ONA we use our collective, statewide power to advocate for critical issues impacting patients, nurses, and health care professionals including a more effective, affordable and accessible healthcare system; better working conditions; and healthier communities.

You have likely stumbled on this webpage because you’re like thousands of other healthcare professionals in Oregon who are ready to organize their workplace and fight for improved working conditions, a safer workplace, and patient centered care. On this site, we have compiled resources for you to start the process of organizing.

The benefits of being an ONA member are immense. First and foremost, it means you have the backing of 20,000 RNs and healthcare professionals from across the state, and support from experienced staff who have negotiated thousands of contracts and won historic improvements in our healthcare system.

I hope you find this information useful, and I look forward to supporting your efforts to fight for a better future for yourself and your coworkers.

Sincerely,

Tamie Cline, RN
President – ONA Board of Directors
