Expand Access to Affordable Health Care with the HOPE Amendment

As nurses, we understand that access to meaningful and comprehensive health care is critical to the overall health of our patients and communities. And we know that when people are able to access routine primary care check-ups, it improves health outcomes and ultimately saves costs.

The HOPE initiative upholds this shared Oregon value that everyone should be able to get the care that they need.

In the midst of national uncertainty around health care, this legislative proposal would ensure affordable access to care for Oregonians through an amendment to Oregon’s Constitution recognizing health care as a right afforded to all.

This legislation is an important step for some of the brightest minds in health care to come together to find solutions to make sure that 100% of Oregonians can meaningfully access and afford comprehensive health care.

As workers on the frontlines of health care, it’s critical that nurses come together to voice our support on why Oregon should reflect our core values in our constitution.
