Paige joined ONA as Director of Government Relations in 2022. Paige has been a political professional in Oregon since 2012, including serving as a government and nonprofit lobbyist, campaign director, policy advisor, and legislative chief of staff. She
has successfully worked on high-profile issues including health care, affordable housing, homelessness, human services, natural resources, and state agency budgets. Prior to fully immersing herself in Oregon politics, Paige received a JD with a Certification
in Environmental and Natural Resources from Lewis and Clark Law School, and a BA in Spanish Literature from the University of Georgia. When she is not advocating for nurses, she scuba dives, plays trivia, and camps with her partner and their rescue
animals.
Russell Lum, BA

Russell Lum joined ONA in 2020 after three years in Oregon politics and labor-aligned organizing. Russell was head of Oregon Fair Trade Campaign from 2017 to 2019. Oregon Fair Trade is a coalition of organizations, many of whom unions, which coordinates
grassroots organizing and lobbying to influence U.S. trade policy — to the point of making trade genuinely fair in its impacts on workers, consumers, and the environment. Russell is also a two-time field organizer for Bernie Sanders, and field director
for a successful primary run for Portland mayor. Prior to coming to Oregon, his political involvements spanned several jobs across four cities, and he's glad to be settling down in the Northwest and glad to be fighting with and for Oregon nurses.
Emerson Hamlin

Emerson joined ONA as a political organizer in 2022. Prior to joining ONA, they worked on five political campaigns, most recently managing the Right to Healthcare: Yes on Measure 111 campaign. Emerson has served in two state legislative offices. They were proud to participate in the successful effort to form the first state legislative staff union in the United States.
In Emerson's free time, you can find them West Coast Swing dancing, or hanging out with their cat, Sir Ollie.
Sarah Luna

Sarah joined ONA in 2021. She has a bachelor’s degree in Communications, an associates degree in Criminal Justice and is certified in Conflict Resolution and Mediation. She remains a member of the Oregon Mediation Association.
Sarah has been an elected labor leader in the past as a union president for OSEA’s Newberg Chapter, and Vice President for Political Action for both AFT-Oregon and PCCFCE as well as a paid staff person as an Internal Organizer at PCCFFAP. Sarah’s work
has focused on leader training and strategic planning. Sarah is involved in her local community through her work as a founder of the Newberg Emergency Shelter and with her local PFLAG chapter. Sarah is a US Army Veteran.

Jack Dempsey has lobbied on behalf of ONA since the Spring of 2008. Jack works with Congress, the Oregon Legislature and other decision-makers to make positive improvements for nurses and their patients. Prior to working with ONA, Jack
worked in government relations at OHSU and in the Oregon Senate President’s Office.
