2026 ONA Statewide Elections

ONA is actively seeking enthusiastic, engaged members to run for open statewide leadership positions in our organization’s upcoming elections. Serving as a statewide leader in ONA is a rewarding opportunity and a way for you to weigh in on the most important issues facing our members today. There are open positions on every cabinet and the ONA Board of Directors.

Please note: The nominations for ONA Constituent Association delegates to attend the ONA House of Delegates on May 6, 2026 will open mid-December. It is a separate process from the Statewide Elections.

(*) The number of delegate seats for national and local affiliates are determined each year. The election will be used to tabulate votes and set a delegate pool. Once the number of delegates is determined each year, the top vote getters will be assigned as delegates and the others will remain as alternates. 

 

2026 Dates and Deadlines

  • Nominations Open: Wednesday, September 3, 2025
  • Nominations Close: Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Candidates Announced: Monday, Jan. 5
  • Election Opens: Monday, Jan. 12 at 8 am
  • Election Closes: Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5 p.m.
  • Elected leaders take office: July 1, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

Board of Directors (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Director positions, Cabinet on Professional Practice Chair, and Cabinet on Health Policy Chair)

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment for two (2) years immediately preceding the call for nominations or appointment.
  • Not a supervisor or manager of workers that ONA currently represents or is actively seeking to represent for purposes of collective bargaining.

Labor Cabinet

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment for two (2) years immediately preceding the call for nominations or appointment.
  • Be in a bargaining unit represented by ONA and in good standing

Cabinet on Organizing

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment for two (2) years immediately preceding the call for nominations or appointment.
  • Be in a bargaining unit represented by ONA and in good standing or a retired ONA bargaining unit member in good standing

Cabinet on Health Policy, Cabinet on Professional Practice, and Political Action Committee

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment.

Standing Committees (Elections, Nominating, and Bylaws committees)

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment for two (2) years immediately preceding the call for nominations or appointment.

ANA Delegate

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment.
  • Have an RN license.

AFT Delegate and Oregon AFL-CIO Delegate

  • Be an ONA member in good standing at the time of nomination or appointment.
  • Be in a bargaining unit represented by ONA and working under a contract (active or expired contract). Those in a newly organized unit bargaining a first contract are not eligible.
