ONA Backs Boeing Workers in Historic Strike

The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) expresses our full solidarity with the 33,000 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) who have taken the courageous step of striking against Boeing in Oregon and Washington. Their demands for fair wages, respect in the workplace, and a voice in ensuring workplace safety resonate deeply with our values as an organization that champions workers’ rights and the safety of those we serve.

Just as nurses advocate for safe working conditions and fair treatment to provide the highest level of care to our patients, the workers at Boeing are standing up not only for themselves but for the safety of the products they create and the public that depends on them. Their fight goes beyond securing a fair contract—it’s about holding employers accountable when profits are prioritized over people.

As a union that regularly engages in the battle for dignity and fairness, we know that collective action is a powerful tool for change. The resolve and unity of Boeing’s workforce is a testament to the strength of organized labor. They are setting an example that every worker, in any industry, can look to with pride.

ONA members stand with the Boeing workers in this important moment. We encourage our members and allies to show their support and solidarity, whether by joining them on the picket lines or raising awareness of their struggle. Together, we will continue to fight for a future where workers are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve.
