Professional Development

Continuing Education

One of ONA’s highest priorities is to provide our members with expanded access to Continuing Education opportunities at free or greatly reduced rates. We do this through a range of activities and events, including the ONA convention, special conferences, online webinars, and through partnerships with special interest organizations. Many of these offerings are free to ONA members or are provided at significant discounts.

ONA Special Interest Groups/Advanced Practice Nurses

ONA manages two statewide Special Interest Groups (SIGs) specifically to meet the needs of Oregon’s Advanced Practice Nurses. Nurse Practitioners of Oregon (NPO) and Oregon Council of Clinical Nurse Specialists (OCCNS) are groups that act as the state’s only professional network and association for advanced practice nurses. NPO and OCCNS both offer unique benefits to these members, including annual conferences and Continuing Education opportunities.

Leadership Development

ONA provides our members with a wide range of leadership development opportunities, including serving on any of our practice, ethics and policy cabinets, serving on the ONA Board, or on Professional Nursing Care Committees (PNCCs).

Ergonomics, Safety and Health Promotion

ONA staff provides expertise and consultation to members, PNCCs and Bargaining Units about a wide variety of occupational issues.

Networking and Professional Development

The opportunity to meet and network with nursing professionals from across the state, and the nation, is a huge part of what Professional Services offers our members. During conventions, at CE days, conferences and trainings, Oregon’s nursing professionals have the opportunity to connect with their colleagues and develop friendships and professional relationships of enormous value.
