Welcome to the Cabinet on Human Rights and Ethics page! This cabinet is comprised of five (5) members, three elected and 2 appointed by ONA’s Board of Directors. Each Cabinet member serves for a two year term. The Cabinet is charged with addressing and responding to concerns related to equal opportunity and human rights, evaluating trends, developments and issues in its area of responsibility, establishing a plan of operation for its work, developing or adopting standards, and recommending policies or positions to the BOD and House of Delegates.

Publications and Positions
Joining the Cabinet
On a yearly basis, Cabinet members complete their term of office and others join. Here are the requirements and obligations for service on this Cabinet:
- Attendance at 80% or more of scheduled meetings and/or conference calls
- Ability to listen and communicate concerns of nurses about human rights and ethics despite barriers of boundary or practice or personal opinion
- Awareness of the impact of current trends and policies on human rights and ethics
- Willingness to become well versed and/or take leadership on one or more of the Cabinet’s activities
- Ability to regularly access e-mail

Meetings and Minutes
The scheduled meetings of the Cabinet on Human Rights and Ethics are approximately one face to face meeting and one 1-hour conference call each quarter. Meeting minutes are available to members upon request.
