Welcome to the Cabinet on Education page! This cabinet is comprised of seven (7) members, four elected and 3 appointed by ONA’s Board of Directors. Each Cabinet member serves for a two year term. The Cabinet is charged with monitoring developments in
nursing education, promoting life-long learning and continuing competency in the individual practice of ONA members, and supporting the recruitment of nurses into the profession.

Join the Cabinet
On a yearly basis, Cabinet members complete their term of office and others join. Here are the requirements and obligations for service on this Cabinet:
- Have knowledge of issues related to education in the clinical and academic settings e.g., experience as a unit educator, staff developer, clinical faculty, mentor/preceptor, or faculty in a school of nursing
- Have awareness of current trends and issues in clinical education and/or nursing education
- Be willing to become an expert in or take leadership of one or more of the Cabinet’s activities or program areas
- Mandatory attendance (in person, via phone) at 80% or more of the Cabinet meetings
- Ability to regularly access e-mail

Meetings and Minutes
