Members from across Oregon came together for an unprecedented House of Delegates (HOD) Tuesday, Sept. 22—ONA’s first-ever virtual HOD. Delegates debated and voted to approve more than a dozen resolutions and amendments.
Highlights include successful votes to expand ONA’s professional outreach and diversity, raise ethical standards, address workplace violence, establish a new Organizing Cabinet, promote equal pay for equal work for all NPs, support release time for nurses volunteering during natural disasters and address the nurse faculty shortage, along with other important issues.
Throughout the day, delegates voted to support measures to increase equity and diversity within ONA, better model core nursing values including respect, equality and inclusion, to welcome new nurses and allied health care workers into ONA, and to raise our own ethical and practice standards.
What Issues did Delegates Vote on in 2020?
Delegates will vote on issues affecting all aspects of ONA, nursing and health care. Bylaws and resolutions proposed for our 2020 House of Delegates include but are not limited to.
