ONA Supports Governor's Work to Preserve Children's Health Funding

The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) today joined Oregon Governor Kate Brown in calling on Congress to reauthorize funding for the bipartisan Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which provides access to essential health care for thousands of children in Oregon.

“The Children’s Health Insurance Program is a lifeline for children who otherwise couldn’t afford to see a health care provider," said said ONA Chief Executive Officer Martin Taylor. "Without CHIP, thousands of Oregon children will go without routine checkups, immunizations and other basic health care services they need to stay healthy and fulfill their potential."

"We support Governor Brown’s efforts to ensure this critical program continues without interruption and join her in asking Congress to take immediate action to preserve this essential health program for Oregon’s children and families,”
