Providence St. Vincent Recap of Health Insurance Benefits and Enrollment

Dear St. Vincent Nurse:

We have had many questions about enrollment in benefits for 2012 and what nurses should be doing. Questions about specifics should be directed to Human Resources, but we want to send you the overview about negotiations.

The Medical Center told us in September after your “no” vote that the nurses will have health insurance benefits in 2012. The benefits are not determined yet, since we are in negotiations, but for the time being, nurses will continue in the old plan. If we reach an agreement, nurses could be moved onto a different plan after January 1, 2012.

  • Enrollment: Nurses will complete enrollment for everything but health insurance during the open enrollment period 10/31-11/14.
  • Flexible Spending Account Changes: If there is a change to the health insurance benefit for 2012 (if you accept their proposed plan in negotiations), nurses will be able to change their flexible spending account allocation (increase or decrease).
  • Biometric Screening/HRA: We have been told that if nurses wish to have the biometric screening (which would be required to access the Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) under the proposed (but rejected) plan, they may have that screening. But a nurse’s decision to take the biometric screening will not affect the nurse’s right to negotiate for and participate in, 2012 health insurance benefits.

Thank you,

Your Negotiating Team: Sally LaJoie, Glenda Peters, Bobbi Rychlick, Jennifer Speer, Maryann Dutton, Laura Fryburg, Philip D’Onofrio, and Dani Tanzella
