ONA History
The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) represents a diverse community of 18,000 nurses
and healthcare professionals throughout Oregon. For more than 120 years, we have used our collective power to raise the standards for nurses and healthcare professionals throughout Oregon.
Recently, ONA members have won big
at the bargaining table by improving working conditions in healthcare, raising the standards for patient care, increasing healthcare accessibility, and making Oregon one of the most competitive states to work in the healthcare field.
In 2023, ONA members lead the charge at the state legislature to pass a best-in-the-nation safe staffing law which mandates nurse to patient ratios, setting a gold standard for other states to follow.
At the center of all ONA’s
work are our core values of equity, compassion, dignity, and respect for all patients and healthcare professionals.
