Get Involved in the Union

We all have a responsibility to each other and our patients to support our colleagues and our professional association. Becoming a member of ONA is the gateway to many opportunities to make a real difference in our practice and each other's lives. For members, there are many ways to serve:

Facility Committee Membership

Many committees at your facility require ONA membership. These committees have a direct impact on how your unit is staffed and the influence that staff nurses have on patient care.

Local Representative Bargaining Unit Positions

All members should plan to rotate into an ONA leadership position at some point in their career. No experience is necessary, only a desire to assist your co-workers!

  • Local bargaining unit officers and/or contract negotiating committee
  • Nurse representative (steward) in a nursing unit and shift
  • Contract action team member
