The Oregon College Savings Plan

The Oregon College Savings Plan offers a great savings opportunity for nurses looking to return to college to complete their BSN, MSN, DNP, or other degrees.

The Institute of Medicine’s Future of Nursing Report calls for 80 percent of nurses to have baccalaureate degrees by the year 2020 and the cost of higher education is a key barrier facing nurses who want to continue their education.

How Oregon College Savings Plan Can Help

The Oregon College Savings Plan is a state-sponsored, tax-advantaged 529 college savings plan that can help you plan for the cost of higher education.

You may be eligible to receive an annual state tax deduction on contributions to your Oregon College Savings Plan account. For 2017, the total deduction on all accounts in the Network is $4,660 for taxpayers filing jointly and $2,330 for all others.

Any earnings on your investment can grow tax-free and qualified withdrawals are also free from federal and Oregon income tax.

You can use the funds for a lot more than just tuition — including required fees, certain room and board costs, books, supplies, as well as computers and related technology costs such as Internet access fees and printers.
