SPCH Nurses Ratify Contract

The Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Nurses ratified their contract on October 29 by an 86% "Yes” vote. The Nurses will receive an increase in wages of 2.0% Retro to July 1, 2010 and 2.5% July 1, 2011. Nurses that work an extra shift, that doesn't result in trade or a regularly scheduled holiday will be paid 2.5x the regular rate of pay. Leave of Absence for a family death will be increased to 36 hours, and a nurse has up to thirty calendar days to utilize this benefit. More news can be found on the SPCH Bargaining Unit page.

SAGH Nurses Vote NO

Samaritan Albany Hospital Nurses voted on October 27 and 61% voted against the Employer's Last, Best and Final offer. Major concerns expressed for non-acceptance of the proposals were the hated two tier-benefit plan, an increase in insurance cap, no retro wage increases to the contract expiration of July 1, 2010, and to add insult to injury, nurses were not given an opportunity to voice their displeasure. The Bargaining Team is working with a Federal Mediator and Management to get both negotiating teams back to the Table. The bargaining team is planning on stepping-up work action in an effort to facilitate movement towards a fair contract. More information and news can be found on the SAGH Bargaining Unit Page.
