2010 Proposed Bylaws Amendments

ONA’s 2010 House of Delegates will be a time to gather, discuss, debate, shape the future of the organization, and also to address proposed amendments to the ONA Bylaws. That last piece may not seem like the most interesting part of ONA’s HOD, but keeping our bylaws up to date and reflective of our organization’s values is an important and necessary part of our ONA’s governance.

ONA’s Bylaws Committee has been working hard defining proposed amendments, and, as required, this is the notice to all ONA members that the proposed ONA bylaws changes will be voted on by the HOD on April 17, 2010 in Eugene.

Although many of the bylaws changes are grammatical or clarifying in nature, there are a few important amendments being proposed by the Bylaws Committee, such as: changes to the way ONA pays for dues to the National Federation of Nurses (NFN), creation of authority for new membership categories for ONA’s planned 2010 membership campaign, and the ability to create demonstration projects to increase ONA membership.

Please review these proposed bylaws amendments carefully before you attend the HOD, April 17, in Eugene. Delegates to the 2010 House will receive hard copies of the proposed changes in the delegate packet.

Amendments are in red while the rationale for the proposed amendments are highlited in yellow (see example page below).
