ONA Convention

The Oregon Nurses Association Convention is an opportunity for nursing students, ONA members, ONA leadership and others in the nursing field throughout the state to come together and discuss the issues facing Oregon nurses.

2018 ONA Convention

More than 250 nurses participated in ONA’s 2018 Convention and House of Delegates to celebrate advocacy, share best practices and represent ONA members during our House of Delegates.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the process and made this event a resounding success!

Learn more about the resolutions and bylaws nurses voted to approve during the 2018 House of Delegates and who they will shape ONA’s future going forward.

2016 ONA Convention

Thank you to the hundreds of nurses who took part in ONA’s 2016 Convention and House of Delegates this spring. Your participation made the event a success! This year’s Convention included presentations on critical nursing issues including nurse staffing, ethics, leadership, and advocacy, as well as great opportunities for nurses from across the state to meet and learn from each other.

On April 13, the ONA House of Delegates met and passed several important action items. The House amended ONA’s bylaws to include a position on the ONA Board of Directors for a recent nurse graduate. It also approved an amended action report in support of harm reduction interventions and public health policies, and a position statement on marijuana use by nurses.

The House did not pass a proposed bylaws amendment that would have expanded ONA membership to include health professionals who are not registered nurses but are represented by ONA under collective bargaining agreements.

ONA’s 2016 Statewide Election winners were also announced during the HOD. Congratulations to ONA President Katy Cooper, BSN, RN, who was re-elected, and all the nurses who were chosen to serve in ONA leadership positions.

ONA recognized several outstanding nurses throughout the week, including Elizabeth McPhee, RN, who received ONA’s inaugural Susan E. King Emerging Leader in Nursing Practice award.
Many other nurses also received awards for their work in nursing practice, organizing and political advocacy.
