ONA Steward trainings for nurses in the St. Charles System or at Harney District Hospital or Lake District Hospital. The trainings cover the basics of contract enforcement and workplace organizing. Topics include:

  • Grievance handling
  • Investigatory meetings
  • Conducting investigations on management decisions and actions
  • Just cause discipline
  • Unfair labor practices
  • Internal issue organizing campaigns
  • Challenging employer unilateral changes to working conditions
  • Aggressive use of Staffing Request and Documentation Forms (SRDFs).

Stewards are equals with managers when acting in that capacity and have many of the same powers as the ONA Labor Representative. Stewards focus on representing their unit, but may also handle grievances from other units. Stewards also serve as unit representatives on Labor/Management and other committees.

Time and Location

The training will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

The training will be located in the conference room of the Deschutes Children’s Foundation building at 2125 NE Daggett Ln, Bend, OR 97701

If you cannot attend this training, we will have other trainings. Join us for a steward training on any of the following dates:

  • Saturday, Sept. 15
  • Saturday, Sept. 29
  • Saturday, Oct. 13
