Thursday, July 26, 2018 - The 2018 ONA Leadership Summit will provide all current and incoming nurse leaders an opportunity to provide feedback on what it means to be a leader in ONA and help inform what leadership will look like in the future.

ONA nurse leaders are invited to take part in the 2018 ONA Leadership Summit on Thursday, July 26 in Tualatin. The leadership summit will provide all current and incoming nurse leaders an opportunity to provide feedback on what it means to be a leader in ONA and help inform what leadership will look like in the future.

Who Should Attend

All current and incoming ONA leaders holding positions in governing bodies. This includes the Board of Directors, Cabinet on Economic and General Welfare, Cabinet on Health Policy, Cabinet on Education, Cabinet on Human Rights and Ethics, Cabinet on Nursing Practice and Research and members of the Political Action Committees.

Schedule of the Day

  • 9 - 10 a.m.: Optional Governance Training
  • 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Leadership Summit

Draft Agenda

  • ONA New Governance Member Training (optional): Learn what the structure of ONA Governance looks like?  Where does your Cabinet or group fit in and what are your responsibilities?
  • Norms, Standards and Culture of ONA governance: What should the norms, standards and culture of ONA governing bodies look like? What are the current and best practices? How should meetings be prepared for and run? What is the role of ONA’s governing bodies in the strategic plan work? How should member best communicate with each other and with other groups inside and outside ONA? These questions and more will be explored during the event.
     
  • “We are ONA” Training: Participate in a skill development training, learning new skills and honing old skills that will help organize and recruit members.
     
  • Leadership Development: Take part in a discussion of what leadership development programs should look like at ONA. As part of this, we will examine the ONA Nurse Leadership Institute (NLI).

Continuing Education

Participants will be able to earn continuing nursing education contact hours.
