ONA Launches Search for Executive Director

The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) is seeking an executive director. The purpose of ONA is to work for the improvement of health standards and the availability of health care services for all people, foster high standards of nursing, and stimulate and promote professional development of nurses and advance their economic and general welfare.

ONA’s executive director is responsible for administering ONA’s programs, preserving the fiduciary and legal integrity of the Association, and for carrying out basic policies established by our Bylaws, the ONA/UOUS contract, the House of Delegates, and the Board of Directors. The executive director’s major roles are administrator, coordinator, initiator, consultant, facilitator, and leader. ONA has more than 10,000 members, an 11 member Board of Directors and staff of 42.

Job Requirements

  • Registered nurse required.
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field required.
  • Experience in a senior leadership position including knowledge and experience in complex organizations, collective bargaining, health care public policy, and political action needed.
  • Knowledge of contemporary issues in health care and professional associations a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal, fiscal, and leadership skills required.
