Wisconsin Judge Strikes Down Collective Bargaining Restrictions

As reported by the New York Times and other news outlets, a Wisconsin judge struck down that state's controversial new collective bargaining law on Thursday, May 26, 2011, ruling that GOP legislators failed to provide sufficient public notice before passing the measure this year.

Dane County Circuit Judge Maryann Sumi ruled that Republican legislators violated Wisconsin’s open meetings law during the run up to passage, rendering the law void.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on the case June 6.
