Pioneer Memorial Hospital Reaches a Tentative Agreement

On April 22, Pioneer Memorial Hospital (PMH) nurses reached a Tentative Agreement for a new Contract. The Contract will be voted on by RNs on May 5. The Bargaining Team unanimously recommends a “yes” vote in favor of ratification. The Agreement will be a three year contract expiring April 30, 2014. This was a long hard struggle, but the Contract is a victory for ONA represented RNs.

New pay scale will be implemented on May 1, 2011, recognizing years of service as an RN at PMH and prior RN experience. Each nurse will be individually notified of their placement on the proposed scale at the vote (or in advance of the vote). The new pay scale is based on average pay steps at other ONA represented critical access hospitals. In the second year, RNs will get step increases but no additional COLA (2.15 percent between steps 1-16, 2 percent between steps 16 - 23). Effective May 1, 2013, additional 1.5 percent cost of living adjustment (plus steps continue). Differentials include; BSN differential $2.00 per hour; night shift differential $3.50 per hour; weekend differential $2.00 hour; OR standby $8.00 hour; other standby $5.00 per hour; coordinator differential $1.80 per hour; and preceptor differential $1.25 per hour.

Insurance benefits will be the same as for Bend ONA members for the term of the Contract, and current PMH nurses will be offered the choice to continue extended illness benefits or switch to short term disability insurance. The Contract also includes just cause for disciplinary actions, grievance procedure, education fund, PNCC, and fair share/dues deduction
