Nursing Fellowships Aim to Jump-start Research in Low-income Countries

Nurse faculty members in doctoral programs who qualify have until 1 May 2010 to apply for fellowships funded and supported by the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau (STTI) and the International Network for Doctoral Education in Nursing (INDEN).

The goal of the fellowships is to assist the fellows in developing a formal research program of work and to establish a network for future international collaboration.

Fellows will be placed in research-intensive environments with a mentor in the fellow’s area of research. Three fellowships will be awarded within one year.

Each fellowship is limited to recent (within five years) doctoral graduates from low- and middle-income countries who are appointed to faculty positions in doctoral programs and who do or will supervise student research. Applicants should be a member of both STTI and INDEN, and be competent in English or the language of the country where the study will occur. The fellowship must begin by January 2011.

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of US $1,200 to $1,600 for three months.
