Laurelen Jabbour, RN, BSN, RN-BC

Laurelen Jabbour, RN, BSN, RN-BC, has been a nurse for over 35 years. She became an ONA member shortly after graduating from nursing school. She is retired from OHSU where she practiced most of her career as a med/surg staff nurse. As a nurse at OHSU, Laurelen was active in UBNPC, several hospital wide nursing committees and served as the ONA representative to the Parking Committee. She enjoys teaching, mentoring and sharing the practice of nursing. She was a preceptor to both staff nurses and nursing students for most of her career at OHSU. She also assisted in orientation and staff development through the Nursing Education Department.
 
 

Elizabeth Cathcart, RN, BSN

Elizabeth graduated from Linn Benton Community College’s Nursing Program in 2005, then went on to complete her bachelor’s degree through OHSU’s School of Nursing. Immediately out of school, she worked as a charge nurse in a rehab facility. She soon became the RCM for another facility the company owned. After approximately a year and a half, she secured employment as a staff RN at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis where she is still employed. During her career she worked on the medical surgical unit for several years. During that time she developed and taught a weekly class for incoming elective joint replacement surgery patients, precepted many new employees and students, and served as a clinical expert in the development and teaching of the new medical surgical internship for new nurses throughout the GSRMC facilities. She then moved to PCU for approximately one year, and then transferred to her current unit ICU. She joined the ONA Cabinet on Nursing Practice and Research in 2013.
 

Katie O'Rourke, RN, BSN

Katie O'Rourke, RN, BSN received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN in 2008. She is currently completing a Master’s in Nursing, with a focus in Patient Care Services Administration, through Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Katie has worked as a nurse at PeaceHealth’s Sacred Heart Medical Center RiverBend cardiac surgery unit since 2008 and has been a clinical instructor for OHSU’s satellite nursing program at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, OR since 2014. Katie has served on numerous councils (patient advocacy, unit-based practice, professional development, quality improvement and nursing research), mentored novice nurses, and completed evidence-based practice projects that have improved patient care and nurse staffing.
 

Debra Wright, RN

Debra Wright RN has been a nurse and ONA member for the past 18 years. She works at Grande Ronde Hospital primarily in Surgical Services. She is a charge nurse for Surgicenter (outpatient surgery and intravenous therapy) where her duties include daily staffing and assignments. She is also the nurse mentor for the training of nurses new to her department. Two years ago she became the PNCC chair and has been a member of the staffing committee for several years. Debra is excited for the opportunity to be a member of the Cabinet on Nursing Practice and Research. 
 

Ashley Wells, RN

Ashley Wells works for Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC) as a staff nurse for a surgical unit and is also an adjunct clinical instructor at the University of Portland. She is involved in multiple committees at PPMC that regard clinical practice and professional development. This is her first cabinet position within an organization. "I was interested in this role because of the broader outreach it has and it's focus on nursing practice and incorporating evidence-based research into what we do at the bedside."
