Campaign for Healthy Children (CHC)

The CHC Immunization project was established in 1995 in response to the concern for preventing childhood illness and disease.  Oregon’s full immunization rate at that time was among the lowest in the country and ONA leaders sought to improve access to preventive care.  Originally offered in the Lents neighborhood, the clinic moved to the Wallace Medical Concern in 2008.  The ONA Immunization Clinic is a public/private partnership of Oregon Nurses Association, Oregon Nurses Foundation, and Multnomah County Health Department.  It also provides additional support and services to the children seen by Kaiser pediatric providers on that same third Saturday of the month.  Since moving to the Wallace Medical Concern location, volunteer nurses have cared for   over 300 children and given   approximately 1000 vaccines.

The Clinic Coordinator is Karen Oglesby BSN, RN.  Volunteer members and nursing students provide direct care. The clinic is open in August and runs through April on the third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There are also occasional additional walk in clinics. The clinic is located at the Wallace Medical Concern, 254 NW Burnside Road, Gresham.  Phone: 503-489-1760.

Those interested in volunteering or obtaining additional information about the clinic should contact Kathy Gannett gannett@oregonrn.org.
