ONA is calling on Oregon Secretary of State Dennis Richardson to release documents relating to Referendum 301 and his communications with the chief petitioner Representative Julie Parrish.

ONA 2017 Legislative Report

Oregon nurses won a number of important victories during Oregon’s 2017 legislative session. We protected and expanded access to health care for some of our most vulnerable patients, many advanced practice priorities were signed into law, and a number of our coalition agenda items also fared well.

Oregon's Hospital Nurse Staffing Law

Thanks to ONA members’ support, the Oregon Legislature successfully passed improvements to Oregon’s Hospital Nurse Staffing Law in 2015. These much-needed improvements ensure that nurse staffing committees have the final say in hospitals’ staffing plans, increase state-led investigations and audits, enhance staffing plans’ transparency, establish reasonable limits on mandatory overtime, and create a mediation process for staffing committees to resolve impasses, among other changes.
