ONA has developed a close relationship with the Oregon Student Nurses Association (OSNA) to advance and promote the field of nursing at every level, from education to practice, now and for generations to come. To foster this relationship, membership in OSNA and the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA) grants you Student Affiliate Membership in ONA.
Membership in Three Steps
- Join NSNA by going to www.nsnamembership.org and sign up for new membership.
- By joining NSNA online, you become a member of the OSNA. Visit www.oregonsna.org to learn more about OSNA and what it can do for you!
- After you receive your OSNA membership confirmation, contact ONA here to request your ONA Student Affiliate Member information.
Please note if you have your RN license, you are not eligible to join ONA as a student affiliate. However, RNs who are currently enrolled full-time in, or are recent graduates of, nursing programs may be eligible to receive discounts on ONA Professional Association membership.
Dues Reduction for New Graduates
For a new graduate of a basic nursing program (within six month after licensure) or a graduate of an advanced practice nursing program (within six months following graduation), you are eligible for a 50% reduced dues rate for the first year of membership. If you were a member of the OSNA during your schooling, you can qualify for an even greater discount. Oregon Student Nurses' Association (OSNA)
OSNA is the Oregon state chapter of the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA). If you are a nursing student in Oregon, or interested in learning more about becoming a nurse, we hope that you find the support and information you need for your journey to become a nurse on their website.
Oregon Nurses Foundation Scholarships
The fund was established in 2004 to commemorate the centennial of the Oregon Nurses Association. Scholarships are awarded to individuals who have been accepted and are enrolled in the nursing program of study. This scholarship is open to students from any accredited nursing program in Oregon and is given out 4 times per year in $1,000 awards. A subcommittee of the ONF Board awards the Centennial Scholarships.
The Smith scholarship was established through the contribution of Milton F. Smith of Roseburg. The endowment fund is administered by ONF. Scholarships are typically given in the amount of $1,000 to individuals enrolled in undergraduate baccalaureate or graduate nursing programs. A subcommittee of the ONA Cabinet on Education recommends individuals for award to the ONF Board.

US Air Force ROTC Nursing Opportunities and Scholarship Program
The express scholarship is a non-competitive scholarship that qualified nursing students can apply for that will help pay for tuition, books and fees, and provide a monthly stipend. Additionally, there are in-college scholarships for any nursing student that enrolls in AFROTC that they can compete for each year.
Army ROTC Nurse Scholarship Program at University of Portland
The United States Army operates a Military Science and Leadership unit of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) at the University of Portland. The program is a cooperative effort between the Army and the University. It provides prerequisite leadership training qualifications for students desiring to earn appointments as Second Lieutenants in either the United States Army, the United States Army Reserve, or the Army National Guard. There are currently over 20 Army ROTC Nurse students in the program.
