Thanks to ONA members’ support, the Oregon Legislature passed improvements to Oregon’s Hospital Nurse Staffing Law in 2015. These important improvements ensure that nurse staffing committees have the final say in hospitals’ staffing plans, increase state-led investigations and audits, enhance staffing plans’ transparency, establish reasonable limits on mandatory overtime, and create a mediation process for staffing committees to resolve impasses, and more.
A new and dynamic program, the NLI is designed in service of ONA’s vision, to create a cohesive and dynamic community of peers that is organized to affect change and respond to challenges in politics, practice and labor.
Our members are our strength. Together, we can ensure the future of our profession; that is the true value of membership in ONA. By becoming a member, you add your voice, your experience and your passion for your profession to our more than 13,500 represented nurses. Together, we can make a difference for you, your patients and your nursing colleagues.
ONA leaders, Please mark your calendars and plan on joining us for the 2015 Annual ONA Bargaining Unit Leadership Conference this fall. This year's leadership conference, "Powering Up: Challenges and Opportunities," will be Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville.
